“Scarlet can come,” Janice offered.

“Nope.”

Scarlet smiled. “It’s okay, Janice. I’ll be fine.”

I went into the living room and watched television for a few hours before we went out to dinner. Janice was wearing jeans and a shirt. “Why aren’t you wearing a dress?”

“But we’re leaving her in the apartment alone.”

“We won’t be out that long, and she isn’t dumb enough to leave. She knows it would piss of both me and Sean, plus Cortland. I know you’re just concerned but don’t worry about her.”

“If you really think it’s okay.”

“It is.” I wrapped my arm around her waist. “Now let’s stop talking about that brat and go out.”

“Sounds good.”

We walked to the street then got into a cab. I placed my hand on her thigh during the drive. Her skin was smooth.
